Imad Tibi has worked in the field of education for the last 30 years. He has worked as a principal for 15 years and as a Math & Science teacher and professional development coordinator for 15 years in public and Islamic schools. Mr Tibi has one B.S. degree and two M.S. degrees in Math Education and Biomedical Engineering fields.

Mr. Michael Jackson has worked in the field of education for more than 15 years. He has worked as a Social Studies teacher and administrator for Detroit Public Schools and Inkster Public Schools. Michael attended Western Michigan University and earned a BA in Political Science. He attended Wayne State University and earned his Master’s of Arts in teaching degree. As his years in teaching middle school social studies furthered he was then led to go into administration. Michael went back to school to obtain his Educational Specialist and Administrator certification at Oakland University. During the summer months, Michael works with the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine as a Faculty Advisor (www.nylf.org/med). This program is geared toward high school students who have an interest in the medical field. The program is located in 9 U.S. cities that included Boston, Chicago, New York, Houston, Los Angeles, North Carolina, Philadelphia, Atlanta and San Francisco. During his spare time Michael enjoys reading, travelling and mentoring.

Marie-Annick McLaughlin earned a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Quebec in Montreal and a graduate degree from the University of Montreal, both located in Canada. After working at the Boston Biomedical Research Institute for 4 years, she moved to Michigan with her husband. Marie-Annick has extensive experience tutoring children from grade 5 to 10, mostly in science, mathematics and English. She also coached students in time management, studying strategies and memorization techniques. Experienced in finances and human resources management, Marie-Annick joined Genesee Academy during the 2011-12 school year and is enjoying the opportunity to work with everyone at GA.

Gina Khirfan is the librarian/media specialist for the GA Library. In the past she has worked as a substitute teacher, volunteer librarian, tutor, and parent volunteer at Genesee Academy. She also has experience as a retail business owner, office manager and other clerical work. In 2009 she received her B.A. in English with specialization in writing from the University of Michigan. In 2014, she received her MLIS degree from Wayne State University with specialization in ALFA (Accessible Libraries for All). Mrs. Khirfan loves helping the students at GA and hopes to help them improve upon their reading, technology and research skills. Married for over 30 years, she has four children, three girls ages 27, 24 and 16 and one boy age 23. In her spare time, she enjoys, reading, quilting, gardening and traveling.
